Belotero is an FDA approved hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler, and is one of the lightest formulas among dermal fillers.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the body that has an important role in the maintenance of skin volume and hydration, joint lubrication and cushioning, as well as eye volume and shape.
It’s incredibly hydrophilic and retains water, absorbing more than 1,000 times it’s weight, therefore adds volume to skin.
Hyaluronic acid also binds with elastin and collagen, providing essential nutrients to them, which provides elasticity, structure and volume to the skin.
With aging, the production of natural dermal moisturisers and volumisers (such as hyaluronic acid, collagen) decreases, resulting in formation of lines and wrinkles. It can be restored by hyaluronic acid-based fillers.
Although the mechanism of action is similar to other hyaluronic acid-based fillers, Belotero has it’s unique light and thin formula and can be injected more superficially without causing formation of the lumps and bumps.
It’s ideal for treating the fine lines on corners of the mouth, perioral lines and marionette lines, also for restoring the lost facial volume and rehydration of the skin.
Belotero offers three different formulations (Balance, Soft and Intense), which allows to correct a wide range and depth lines and wrinkles.
Consultation with an experienced, licensed injector will help you understand the subtle differences between different types of fillers, whether they will be effective and safe treatment option for you.
Duration of the effect is from 6-9 months, depending on the individual’s skin and health characteristics, muscle movement and injector’s technique.
There are, of course, some instances when the use of Radiesse is contraindicated.
